About me
Hello! My name is Pyry Aarnio. Nice to meet you!
I hold a Master of Arts degree and have been working as an interpreter in Japanese, Finnish, and English since 2024, the year I also founded my translation office, Kielipalvelu Aarnio. I have interpreting experience on various fields including education, health and social care, as well as conferences and travel industry. I am a member of the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL).
In addition, I work as a Japanese language tour guide and translator. Since 2022, I have organized cultural experiences for Japanese visitors introducing them to Finnish traditions and holidays.
I graduated from the University of Helsinki in 2023. My studies focused on Japanese language and Finnish literature, but included also Finnish language, translation and interpreting, folklore studies, international relations, Japanese culture, and business in Asia. I also spent a year in exchange at University of Tokyo deepening my understanding of Japanese language and culture.
I have also gained professional experience in communications, teaching, culture, and management from both private and public sectors including the Ministry of Education and Culture in Finland and the University of Turku.

When is interpreting needed?
Interpreting is essential whenever people do not share a common language. It is advisable to arrange for an interpreter whenever there is uncertainty about whether all participants can communicate in the same language.
